THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball rising sophomore Chelsea Guimaraes will tryout for the Under 20 Portuguese National Team to play in the European Championship July 9-17. A native of Almada, Portugal, Guimaraes will blog her experiences with the team as they go through a training camp, beginning Tuesday, followed by a tournament in France before the final roster is selected for the European Championship that kicks off July 9.

Guimaraes is no stranger to playing in the European Championship, having played for both Portugal’s 2013 and 2014 U18 teams. She also competed for Portugal in 2012 in both the Division B U18 European Championship and Division B U16 European Championship.
In her first season at Georgia Tech, Guimaraes played in 30 games, making eight starts. She averaged 2.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per game.
