JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On the first day of competition at the 2015 NCAA East Preliminaries, Georgia Tech track and field senior Samantha Becker qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships set for June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
Becker punched her first career trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships as the 12th qualifier in the pole vault with a height of 4.18m (13-8.50).
Brandon Lasater qualified for the quarterfinals of the men’s 800 meters after placing in the top three of his heat in the first round. Lasater ran to a time of 1:48.90 and will compete in the quarterfinals on Friday at 7:15 p.m. Zack Fanelty also ran the 800 meters in a time of 1:50.07 and placed 38th.
Myles McDavid placed 39th in the long jump with a distance of 6.98m (22-10.75) and Jeremy Greenwald ran the 1,500 meters in 4:03.47 (46th).
Melissa Fairey (36:37.03; 40th), Katie Townsend (36:54.05; 43rd) and Kelly Meyer (37:09.22; 44th) wrapped up action on the first day of the NCAA East Preliminaries in the 10,000m.

4:30 p.m. — Nathan Daniel; pole vault — first round
5:30 p.m. — Spencer Allen; 110m hurdles — first round
7:15 p.m. — Brandon Lasater; men’s 800m — quarterfinals

6 p.m. — Bailey Weiland; high jump — first round
7:20 p.m. — 110m hurdles; quarterfinals
