Balogun, Dixon Tabbed to All-ACC Freshman Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech women’s basketball freshmen Elizabeth Balogun and Elizabeth Dixon were recognized for their successful inaugural collegiate seasons on Tuesday, being tabbed to the All-ACC Freshman Team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the league’s head coaches. The All-ACC Freshman team is comprised of eight freshmen in the league.

Balogun and Dixon have both earned the start in all 29 contests for the Yellow Jackets this season. The two have collected a total of seven ACC Freshman of the Week honors between them throughout the season.

Balogun leads Tech in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game. She also leads all freshmen in the league in scoring and is currently eighth among all freshmen scorers in the nation. The Chattanooga, Tenn., native has scored in double figures 24 times this season, including a pair of 30-plus-point outings. She has recorded two double-doubles, including an impressive performance in the ACC opener at Boston College with 18 points and 17 rebounds. In Tech’s first meeting against North Carolina this season, Balogun dropped a career-high 35 points for her second 30-plus point performance.

Also named to the all-freshman team, Dixon is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 6.4 rebounds per game, and is third in scoring with an 11.0 points-per-game average. She has recorded 19 games scoring in double figures and four double-doubles. The Memphis, Tenn., native has scored 20-plus points in three games this season, including a 22-point, 17-rebound performance against Duke.

Georgia Tech opens the 2019 ACC Tournament on Thursday at 2 p.m., facing 8th-seeded North Carolina. The game will be televised on RSN, locally on Fox Sports South in Atlanta.
