Athletics Welcomes Incoming Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – Members of Georgia Tech’s incoming freshmen class began arriving on campus over the weekend and started the annual JumpStart Jackets summer bridge program to aid in the transition to college life. The program is broken up into five modules covering several topics with both virtual and in person components.

Over the next two-and-a-half weeks, 28 of Tech’s incoming freshmen from five sports will be acclimated to all things Georgia Tech with modules focused on building academic skills, campus community and the Total Person Program. The program is led by the Athletics Association’s student-athlete services staff, Total Person Program staff and campus partners.

From the robust virtual programming, student-athletes will be introduced to a diverse set of speakers presenting on topics such as time management, transitioning to college, health initiatives, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The program kicked-off with an introductory module to get acclimated to virtual programming and a growth mindset before transitioning to academic skill building where Jackets will delve into topics including GT resources and starting strong at Georgia Tech. During the campus community module, the student-athletes will hear from several campus speakers including the Office of Student Integrity and Campus Recreation Center.

The Jackets will also get an introductory look at Georgia Tech’s Total Person Program, covering a variety of subjects like career development, nutrition and mental health. JumpStart Jackets will conclude with a social event for all attendees.
