Angelo Taylor Advances to Semifinals in Athens

400m Hurdles Results

ATHENS, Greece – Former Georgia Tech men’s track standout Angelo Taylor (U.S.A) advanced to the semifinals of the 400-meter intermediate hurdles by winning his heat with a time of 48.93 on Monday afternoon at the Athens Olympics.

Taylor (1997-98) won Gold in Sydney in 2000 in the 400m hurdles and will try and move on to the finals tomorrow afternoon. He will run in heat one at 2:05 p.m. ET.

Overall, Taylor finished ninth in the quarterfinals. Jamaica’s Danny McFarlane tallied the best time this afternoon with a mark of 48.35. The top two from each heat, plus an additional two, will make it to the finals on Thursday, Aug. 26.

Junior Chaunte Howard (U.S.A) will compete in the quarterfinals of the women’s high jump on Thursday, Aug. 26. The two-time NCAA national champion is scheduled to jump from 1-2:30 p.m. ET.
