Anderson Advances at Omni Hotels National Indoor Championships

Nov. 7, 2002

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — Georgia Tech senior tennis player Roger Anderson ran his unbeaten streak to 12 with a win in the first round of the Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. The event is being contested at the Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas.

The Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, native needed only two sets to dispose of UCLA’s Erfan Djangiri in the first round. Anderson took control of the match early on, cruising to a 6-3 victory in the first set. The second set was much closer, as Anderson held on for a 7-5 win to claim the match in straight sets.

He will now face the winner of the match between North Carolina’s Trystan Meniane and Auburn’s Rameez Junaid in the second round on Friday.
