On Friday morning, Georgia Tech athletics honored its 63 soon-to-be alums during a graduation brunch at the Georgia Tech Student Success Center. Speakers included director of athletics Todd Stansbury, volleyball head coach Michelle Collier and Letterwinners Club director Lucius Sanford, as well as several of the graduating student-athletes Lauren Pitz (volleyball) and Quinton Stephens (men’s basketball).
The event culminated with Stansbury presenting each graduate with a gold sash that that identifies them as student-athletes during the commencement ceremonies. Academic success has long been a staple of Georgia Tech athletics. In the latest data released by the NCAA, Georgia Tech boasts an 87-percent Graduation Success Rate (an all-time high at Tech) and four teams (women’s cross country, golf, men’s swimming & diving and volleyball) earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards this week for compiling Academic Progress Rates that rank among the top 10 percent nationally in their respective sports.
