248 Yellow Jackets Named to ACC Honor Roll

THE FLATS – Recognizing their achievements in the classroom for the 2020-21 academic year, Georgia Tech placed 248 student-athletes on the 65th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Track and field led the way for the Jackets with 64 student-athletes on the honor roll, including three who earned the honor for the fifth or sixth time. Swimming and diving added 49 honorees, while football earned 42, followed by baseball with 33.

Track and field’s Bria Matthews was one of only six student-athletes in the league to earn the recognition for the sixth time, while Sam Costa and Andrew Kent both received the honor for the fifth time. Additionally, 28 Yellow Jackets picked up the honor for the fourth time in their careers and a total of 65 student-athletes were named to the list for at least the third time in their collegiate careers.

The ACC Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year. The record 5,791 recognized this year bettered the previous year mark of 5,611 set in 2019-20.
