2018-19 Men’s Tennis Schedule Released

THE FLATS – After a challenging schedule last season, the Jackets return for another testing slate that begins with four fall tournaments. The Jackets’ 2018-19 schedule boasts a total of 12 NCAA tournament teams and reigning national champion, Wake Forest.

Tech first travels to Nassau, Bahamas for the USTA Collegiate Invitational to make up for a canceled trip to the Carribean last season. During the tournament, the Jackets will face Michigan and Auburn.

The Jackets continue their fall schedule at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Sept. 29-Oct. 8. Shortly after, Tech heads to Athens, Ga. for the ITA Regionals from Oct. 17-22 hosted by SEC foe Georgia. Closing out the fall portion of the schedule, the Jackets host the GT Invitational Nov. 2-4 at the Byers Tennis Complex.

In the spring, the Jackets start off the new year hosting the MLK Tournament on Jan. 25. Tech continues its stay at home when they welcome their first non-conference opponents, Furman and the Citadel for a doubleheader on Sunday, Jan 27.

The following weekend, Tech hits the road for its first away match of the spring against Auburn on Feb. 1. Last season the Jackets defeated the Tigers 6-1 and look to repeat that same feat this year. Closing out the road trip, Tech makes a visit to in-state rival Georgia (Feb. 3).

On Feb. 10, Tech welcomes cross-town rival Georgia State to The Flats after defeating the Panthers 4-3 last season at home. Continuing its non-conference schedule the Jackets hit the road to visit South Carolina for a matchup on Feb. 17.

Tech begins ACC play on the road when the Jackets face the Canes in Miami (Feb. 22) and come home the 24th to clash with Tennessee for its final non-conference match of the season.

The Jackets resume league play hosting Florida State at home (Mar. 1) and travel to Clemson the same weekend to battle it out with the Tigers (Mar.3). The middle portion of Tech’s conference slate includes matches against Carolina rivals, UNC and Duke Mar. 15 and 17.

Tech heads up north for a road test against Virginia (Mar. 22) and Virginia Tech (Mar. 24). Rounding out March action, the Jackets host 2018 NCAA National Champion, Wake Forest Mar. 29.

Another slew of home matches close out the Jackets’ regular season as Louisville and Notre Dame make a trip to The Flats the weekend of Apr. 5. Conference play concludes when Tech travels up to Boston College on Apr. 14.

The ACC Tournament takes place April 17-21 in Cary, N.C., while NCAA Regionals start up May 16-25 in Orlando, Fla. at the campus of Central Florida.
