ATLANTA – Four Yellow Jackets including reigning NCAA singles champion Amanda McDowell will represent the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team in the 2009 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships beginning Wednesday, May 20 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.

McDowell will meet Jackie Wu of Vanderbilt in the first round as she tries and repeats as champion. Freshman Irina Falconi will make her NCAA singles draw debut as a 9-16 seed and will face Melanie Gloria of Fresno State.

Senior Christy Striplin, also appearing in the NCAA Singles Tournament for the first time, will meet Northwestern’s Samantha Murray. Sophomore Noelle Hickey, who is third Jacket to make her NCAA singles debut this season, has drawn Amanda Fink of Southern California.

In the doubles draw, which begins Thursday, Hickey and Striplin will meet Micaela Hein and Kelcy McKenna of Arizona State and McDowell and Facloni will face Notre Dame’s second-ranked duo of Kristy Frilling and Kelcy Tefft.
