Zone B Diving Championship Underway in Athens

Day 1 Results

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Tech divers Brad Homza and Shannon Lumbra each narrowly missed NCAA Championship qualification on Monday as the Zone B Championship began at the University of Georgia’s Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

Lumbra finished ninth overall on the 3m springboard, posting a total score of 597.05. Lumbra, a junior, was just 27.05 points shy of seventh place and the top seven divers advanced to the NCAA Championship.

The men’s 1m springboard was also contested on Monday and Homza placed 11th overall with his total score of 630.35. The sophomore finished just 15.8 points shy of ninth with the top nine divers moving on to the NCAA Championship.

Action continues Tuesday in Athens.
