ATLANTA – Five Yellow Jackets will represent the Georgia Tech Women’s Tennis team at the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships beginning with prequalifying on Oct. 2 at the UCLA campus. The remainder of the tournament will be held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The ITA/Riviera All-American Championships is the first of three individual national championships held throughout the season.
“This tournament is a great opportunity for our players to play some of the best players in the country and move up in the indivdual rankings,” head coach Bryan Shelton said. “We have been working really hard and we should be prepared to have the success that we have had out there in recent years.”
Senior Sasha Krupina headlines a group that includes juniors Viet Ha Ngo, Caroline Lilley and Jillian O’Neill and sophomore Elizabeth Kilborn, who will compete for the Jackets.
Krupina, Lilley, Ngo and O’Neill will all play in the prequalifying singles draw, while O’Neill will team with Kilborn and Krupina will play with Lilley in the prequalifying doubles draw.
Past ITA All-American champions include current professionals Benjamin Becker (Baylor), James Blake (Harvard), Bob and Mike Bryan (Stanford), Irina Falconi (Georgia Tech), Laura Granville (Stanford), John Isner (Georgia), Kevin Kim (UCLA), and Lisa Raymond (Florida).
