Yellow Jackets Earn “Crazy Good” Play of the Week Award

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s 44-yard touchdown pass from Haynes King (Longview, Texas/Longview H.S.) to Christian Leary (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater H.S.) that capped a wild comeback and lifted the Yellow Jackets to a 23-20 win at No. 17 Miami (Fla.) last week has been named the Pop-Tarts “Crazy Good” Play of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

The 44-yard touchdown pass from King to Leary came with one second remaining in the game and finished off a late rally that saw the Jackets force a fumble at their own 26 yard line with 26 seconds to go, then march 74 yards in four plays for the winning score.

The catch was Leary’s first of the game and second touchdown of the season, while the throw was King’s Atlantic Coast Conference-leading 16th touchdown pass of the season.

The Pop-Tarts “Crazy Good” Play of the Week is presented each week by Florida Citrus Sports, Pop-Tarts and the FWAA. It follows Pop-Tarts’ entry into college football with the Pop-Tarts Bowl, which is organized and managed by Florida Citrus Sports and will feature teams from the ACC and Big 12 on Dec. 28 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

Georgia Tech returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 21 when it hosts Boston College for an ACC battle. Kickoff is set for noon at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field and the game will be televised nationally on ACC Network.

Single-game tickets, starting at just $35, can be purchased online by clicking HERE.
