Women’s Tennis Set to Open Fall Slate

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis opens the 2022 fall slate this weekend, participating in the 35th annual Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic, Sept. 16-18. The three-day tournament will be played at the Mickel Tennis Center and hosted by Furman University.

Featuring 10 teams, the tournament format will be flighted competition (no team winner, just individual flight champions for singles and doubles). Two rounds of doubles will be played on Friday beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a round of singles at 1 p.m. Action will continue on Saturday and Sunday with both days beginning at 9 a.m. Admission is free.

The Yellow Jackets will face a tough slate as eight of the 10 teams competing were ranked in the top 40 of the final 2022 ITA rankings. Joining Georgia Tech this weekend will be Clemson, Duke, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and host Furman.

Representing Georgia Tech this weekend will be Kylie Bilchev (Ipswich, England), Alejandra Cruz (Mexico City, Mexico), Monika Dedaj (Pula, Croatia), Rosie Garcia Gross (New York, N.Y.), Ava Hrastar (Duluth, Ga.), Mahak Jain (Mumbai, India), Ruth Marsh (Atlanta, Ga.) and Kate Sharabura (Atlanta, Ga.).
