THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis breaks from Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend to head to South Carolina for a double-header on Saturday against College of Charleston (10 a.m.) and Charleston Southern (3 p.m.).
No. 27 Georgia Tech (9-5, 6-2 ACC) looks to return to winning ways after dropping a tough 5-2 decision against No. 2 NC State last Sunday, snapping a six-match winning streak. The Yellow Jackets are 4-2 when competing on the road this season having last played away from the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on March 6. Tech is led by a pair of ranked Jackets in No. 54 Carol Lee (18-4 in singles) and No. 84 Kylie Bilchev (14-6 singles).
College of Charleston (14-5, 3-0 CAA) enters the weekend on a 10-match win streak, having last fallen on March 9 against Campbell. The Cougars are 12-1 when competing on their home courts. Slade Coetzee and Halli Trinkle lead CofC in singles action, each boasting 16 victories from the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively. Georgia Tech leads the all-time series against College of Charleston, 5-3, and has won four-straight.
After facing the Cougars Saturday morning, Georgia Tech will make the short trip over to Charleston Southern for a 3 p.m. first serve against the Buccaneers. Charleston Southern (10-3, 4-0 Big South) is riding a six-match win streak and has recorded four 7-0 victories in the last five matches. The Bucs are 8-0 at home this season and have never faced Georgia Tech in program history. There will be no live stats or stream available for this match.
