ATLANTA (Apr. 15) — In the last match of the regular season the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team lost to Clemson 6-3 on Saturday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The loss drops No. 30 Georgia Tech’s record to 13-6, 4-4 in the ACC, heading into the ACC tournament.
Mysti Morris of Georgia Tech defeated Cath Galvin of Clemson in the most exciting match of the day at the No. 3 singles spot. Galvin couldn’t take advantage of two match points and Morris came out on top 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (5). Jaime Wong won her seventh ACC match, beating Tiger Laurence Jayet in the No. 4 spot 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Jacket Charlotte Pernet also picked up a victory in the No. 6 spot over Anna Savitskaya 6-0, 6-2.
The two teams went into doubles play t ied at three. The Tigers took all three matches, including a tight win by Renata Brito and Laurence Jayet over Tech’s pair of Sabrina Pardo and Bobbi Guthrie.
The Jackets next match will be in the ACC Tournament April 20-23 at the Raquet Club of the South in Norcross, Georgia.
