The No. 13 South Alabama women’s tennis team defeated the No. 31 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 5-2, Feb. 23 at the Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts in Mobile, Ala.
Sophomore Mysti Morris and Jaime Wong defeated Martina Ondrejkova and Iva Puflerova, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, but the Jaguars won at No. 2 and No. 3 to earn the doubles point.
Wong also won her singles match, defeating Viktoria Stoklasova, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 5. Bobbi Guthrie continued her strong senior campaign with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Nienke Scheltens at No. 3.
But the Jaguars were too much for the Yellow Jackets. They won four of the six singles mathches and improved to 9-1 on the season. Georgia Tech fell to 3-2 and plays Iowa in Mobile on Sunday.
