Women’s Basketball Tabbed No. 18 in AP Poll

THE FLATS – After playing a tough stretch of four-games-in-eight-days, Georgia Tech women’s basketball moved to No. 18 in the Associated Press poll released on Monday. The Yellow Jackets have been ranked in the nation’s top 25 for six straight weeks.

Tech (13-4, 4-2 ACC) took the hardwood in three contests this week, opening with its first Atlantic Coast Conference road win of the season at Pitt on Tuesday, behind a game-high 17 points from Lotta-Maj Lahtinen and 16 points from Digna Strautmane. Just 48 hours later, the Yellow Jackets hosted Florida State in McCamish Pavilion and outscored the Seminoles, 22-13, in the fourth quarter to post a come-from-behind victory. Lorela Cubaj scored a career-high 24 points in the win to lead three Jackets in double-figures. Tech dropped its final game of the stretch on Sunday at Miami by one point, 46-45.

Georgia Tech continues to lead the ACC and nation in scoring defense, while also topping the league in field goal percentage defense and rebounding defense. Individually, Cubaj remains atop the ACC standings in rebounds per game, averaging 12.0, while ranking sixth in the nation.

For the sixth week in a row, the ACC boasted six teams in the top 25: No. 3 Louisville, No. 4 NC State, No. 18 Georgia Tech, No. 19 Notre Dame, No. 20 North Carolina and No. 21 Duke.

Tech has taken eight of its past 10 outings and returns to the hardwood on Thursday, visiting Syracuse. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
