Tallahassee, Fla. – Georgia Tech cross country recorded a ninth-place finish in the women’s 6K and a 10th-place finish in the men’s 8K Friday in the Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Championships. The women finished with 264 points and finished behind Wake Forest; the men totaled 280 points, only three points behind ninth-place Pitt.
Junior Mary Brady (Avondale Estate, Ga.) was the first to cross the finish line for Tech, ending the day with the highest placement for both the women and the men. Brady finished in the 35th position with a time of 20:48.2. Graduate student Grace Driskill (Tucson, Az.) finished with a time of 21:02.1, landing in the 49th spot rounding out the top 50 finishes for Tech.
Senior John Higginbotham (Covington, Ga.) was the first to cross the finish line among the Yellow Jacket men with a time of 24:12.8 in the 46th spot. Next to finish was sophomore Joey Sandel (Sandy Springs, GA.), with a time of 24:15.8 in 51st place.
Senior Katy Jortberg (Glenview, Ill.) ended the day as a top-three performer for the women, recording a time of 21:11.8 finishing in 56th place. Following behind Jortberg was senior Katy Earwood (Martinez, Ga.) (21:12.4) who came in 58th, senior Kenzie Walls (Warner Robins, Ga.) (21:39.1) who finished 86th, followed by graduate student Abigail Green (Bethesda, Md.) (21:40.6) in 87th place.
For the men, senior Devin Wade (Atlanta, Ga.) was the third runner to cross the finish line for the men, posting a time of 24:21.7, which landed him in the 58th spot. Graduate student Zach Jaeger (Peachtree City, Ga.) (24:29.4) finished 65th, senior Myles Collins (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was 82nd (24:43.4) and senior Charlie Smith (Lake Geneva, Wis.) was 87th (24:50.0).
