GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech junior Will Jackson was named the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Jackson, who has played guard the majority of his college career, made the move to tackle prior to the Virginia game and responded with one of his best performances. He and the Yellow Jackets’ offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage in the 56-20 rout of Virginia at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Tech (2-1, 1-1), the nation’s third-leading rushing team at 374.0 yards per game, rolled up 461 yards rushing against the Cavaliers en route to Tech’s third-most-lopsided ACC win all-time.
Behind Jackson and the offensive line, Tech averaged 9.2 yards per rushing attempt, the Jackets’ highest ever in an ACC game and the third-most in any game over the last 35 years.
This is Jackson’s first ACC Performer of the Week nod, and the ninth won by a current member of the Yellow Jackets. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Jackson was a preseason second-team All-ACC pick by Phil Steele and has started 24 career games.
