ATLANTA – Georgia Tech senior offensive tackle/guard Will Jackson was named CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Thursday and earned a spot on the ballot for Academic All-American.
Jackson is the Yellow Jackets’ first Academic All-District selection in football since Darryl Richard in 2007. The All-District 4 team includes players from schools in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama.
On the field, Jackson has started this season at both guard and tackle, helping Georgia Tech gain bowl-eligibility for a 17th consecutive season. The Yellow Jackets, 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the ACC, rank fifth nationally in rushing offense and have ranked in the top five in rushing every year during Jackson’s career.
In the classroom, Jackson graduated from Tech in the spring of 2012 with a degree in business administration and a concentration in finance. Jackson, who produced a cumulative GPA of 3.58, is playing his final season as a graduate student in Georgia Tech’s MBA program.
Jackson, a Knoxville (Tenn.) native, is a three-time Academic All-ACC selection.
All players named Academic All-District earn a spot on the national ballot for Academic All-America, which will be announced later this month.
