THE FLATS — Coming off a successful weekend winning the Georgia Tech Invitational, Georgia Tech volleyball heads to Athens, Ga. to take on Georgia to finish out its nonconference slate on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
The Jackets (5-5) topped Xavier, North Florida and Kansas State at O’Keefe Gymnasium to claim the title at the Georgia Tech Invitational last week. Senior Sydney Wilson put up impressive numbers on offense and defense, hitting .526 for the tournament and putting up 12 total blocks to be named the tournament MVP. Senior Gabriela Stavnetchei was named to the all-tournament team, surpassing the 100 kill mark for the season and contributing 44 kills.
The Bulldogs (8-3) lead the series 22-16 but the Yellow Jackets swept Georgia in their last meeting during the 2016 season in O’Keefe Gymnasium as part of the Georgia Challenge. Tech has won the last four matches in Athens.
