Volleyball Team to Hold Scrimmage on Saturday

Aug. 16, 2002

The Georgia Tech volleyball team will complete its two-a-day workouts with a uniform scrimmage from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The scrimmage will be held in O’Keefe gym and the public is invited to attend free of charge.

The Yellow Jackets have been busy over the last two weeks in preparations for the 2002 season that gets underway on August 30 in Fairfax, Va. Georgia Tech will open its season in the George Mason Tournament Aug. 30-31. The Yellow Jackets will face Villanova in the first match of the season and will also face No. 15 Northern Iowa, Rice and George Mason in the tournament.

“I am really pleased with where we are right now as a team,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “The girls are really working hard and they came into training camp in great shape. Our freshmen and our returning players are really challenging each other, which is making each practice very competitive. Our goal on Saturday will be to play well and to get a better look as to where we stand right now.”
