SCHWARYENBEK, Germany – In its opening match of the German International Tour, the Georgia Tech volleyball team defeated the YMCA Hamburg Club Team in four games, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-14. Maja Pachale led the Yellow Jackets with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Kyleen Bell followed with 13 kills and three service aces. Amanda Hess chipped in 12 digs while Keight Vincent added seven.

“I thought this was a good first step for us today,” said head coach Shelton Collier. “We certainly hope to continue to make improvements and play better and better over the course of the tour, but overall I was pleased with our performance today.”

“I thought our team started off a little shaky, but as we gained confidence our play improved,” said Amanda Hess. “We are still not playing as well as expected, but to come away with a victory is a good feeling.”

The team will return to action on Saturday when it faces the German Youth National Team, the recent gold medal winner of the Junior Olympic European Games.
