Volleyball Team Adds Ulrike Stegemann for 2004 Season

May 5, 2004

Ulrike Stegemann (Schwerin, Gemany.), a 6-0 middle blocker signed a national letter of intent to attend Georgia Tech, head volleyball coach Bond Shymansky announced Wednesday.

“Ulli has a lightning quick arm, great vision, speed and agility and will add depth to our middle blocker position,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “Her international experience will be invaluable and I really feel like though she will be a freshman, she will play like a seasoned veteran.”

Stegemann, who hails from the same hometown as former Yellow Jacket standout Maja Pachale (1998-2001), was a member of the German Youth National Team from 2001-2002. She attended Schweriner Gymnasium, and has played for Parchim Volleyball Sport Club for the past four years.

“We are excited to continue our pipeline of the best players from Germany,” said Shymansky. “I am confident that Ulli will adjust quickly to our style of play and be an impact player for the Yellow Jackets in the years to follow.”
