Lynnette Moster recorded 29 kills and 11 digs as the Georgia Tech volleyball team battled back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Alabama, 23-30, 30-23, 28-30, 30-22, 15-12 Friday night. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 12-2 while the Crimson Tide falls to 8-5.
In front of a season high 1,208 fans, the Yellow Jackets outplayed Alabama in every statistical category. As a team, Tech hit .257 to Alabama’s .173, the Jackets recorded 13 blocks to the Crimson Tide’s five, and Tech outdug Alabama 53 to 51. Tech was led offensively by Lauren Sauer, who recorded 15 kills and Alexandra Preiss who added 11 kills and three blocks. Kele Eveland recorded 54 assists, 14 digs and four service aces, while Jennifer Randall had nine digs and three service aces. Jayme Gergen had six blocks in the match, while Laura Kuhn tallied five.
The Crimson Tide were led by Erin Heffner who had 21 kills, followed by Jennifer Bibber who had 13.
Georgia Tech returns to action Saturday at 12 p.m. against Florida International (4-7), followed by a 7:30 match-up with Cornell (4-2) at 7:30 in the Georgia Tech Invitational.
