Jan. 28, 2010

Schedule of Events

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track & field teams returns to action this weekend at the Rod McCravy Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The meet begins Friday at 6 p.m. EST with select field events. Field events resume Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. before running events begin at 12:30 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets return to Lexington for the second consecutive meet, as they participated in the Kentucky Invitational two weeks ago against a strong field that included several nationally-ranked teams.

“This has been an excellent meet over the past several years,” said men’s head coach Grover Hinsdale, who will take 19 Tech athletes to the meet. “We are looking forward to getting back on this great facility. Our trip to Kentucky two weeks ago was very successful and we hope to keep it rolling this weekend.”

Against that strong field at the Kentucky Invitational, Tech registered three top ten finishes overall. In the women’s high jump, Bianca Stewart and Terri Ann Grant finished eighth and ninth, respectively.

For the men, senior Alphonso Jordan had another solid day in the Kentucky Invitational, registering a third place finish in the 60m hurdles and an eighth place finish in the long jump.

There are 13 teams for both the men and the women completing in the event. No. 1 Florida State and No. 19 Kentucky are the only ranked teams competing for the men, while No. 5 Florida State, No. 14 Louisville and No. 20 Southern Illinois consist of the three ranked women’s teams.

Fans are reminded that results and a full recap will be available on Ramblinwreck.com after competition is finished on Friday and Saturday.
