Three Jackets Swim at Last Chance Meet on Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Jackets in Alex Goerzen, Alex Kimpel and Clay Hering swam at the Last Chance Meet hosted by Ohio State University on Sunday, March 5, in Columbus, Ohio.

Goerzen competed in the 200 backstroke event, turning in an NCAA ‘B’ time of 1:43.07, which topped his time from his 200 back swim at the ACC Championships. The senior then recorded a time of 1:47.39 in the finals.

Kimpel turned in a time of 1:56.15 in the 200 breast prelims, an NCAA ‘B’ time, then followed that performance up with another NCAA ‘B’ qualifying time of 1:57.60 in the 200 breast finals.

Hering swam in both the 100 and 200 fly events on Sunday. In the 100 fly event, Hering touched the wall in a time of 55.11 in the prelims, before turning in a time of 49.80 in the finals. In the 200 fly event, he recorded an NCAA ‘B’ time of 1:47.71 in the prelims, a new career-best mark.
