Three Jackets Earn All-ACC Honors

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis earned three All-ACC honors, the conference announced Thursday. Andres Martin (first team), Marcus McDaniel (second team) and Keshav Chopra (third team) were named to the All-ACC team.

Martin, a mainstay at No. 1 singles and doubles, earned a win over Phillip Hennig of Georgia who was ranked No. 25 in the nation at the time and Tyler Stice of Auburn who finished ranked No. 23 in the nation. Martin was named ACC Player of the Week on February 15 and was part of the ACC Doubles Team of the Week on March 22 with McDaniel.

McDaniel, who qualified for NCAA doubles championships, earned a win over No. 34 Eduardo Nava of Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament en route to Tech’s highest ranked win of all time. McDaniel was part of one of the ACC’s most formidable doubles teams gaining a win over the No. 9 pairing in the nation at the time Fishback/Chrysostom of Virginia Tech and beating Murgett/Maclean of Auburn who ended the season ranked as the No. 8 doubles team.

Chopra, who was the MVP of the MLK Invitational, earned his first All-ACC honor. Chopra played much of the season at No. 3 singles to round out the vaunted No. 1-3 singles lineup playing at Ken Byers Tennis Complex. Chopra was named ACC Player of the Week on January 18 after earning two ranked wins.
