Matt Skole, Baseball, Junior, Woodstock, Ga.
Junior Matt Skole batted .579 on the week, with 11 hits, 11 RBI, two home runs, one grand slam, a 1.053 slugging percentage and .636 on-base percentage to lead the Jackets to a 4-0 record on the week … Skole had multiple hits in three of the four games, totaling 20 bases in the four games … He was 5-for-5 (1.000) with two home runs (one grand slam) and eight RBI to lead the Jackets to a midweek win over Georgia on Tuesday … The Eight RBI were the most in a single by an ACC player this season, and the most for an ACC player in over a year (GT’s Jay Dantzler had eight against Maryland on March 20, 2010) … He batted .429 with six hits, three doubles and three RBI to lead the Jackets to series sweep at Miami over the weekend, Tech’s first sweep over Miami since 1967 … He drove in the go-ahead run in on a double in the 9th inning to break a 1-1 tie in Sunday’s win to preserve the sweep.
Kristen Adkins, Softball, Senior, McKinney, Texas
Adkins went 4-0 on the week with a 0.70 ERA as she improved to 14-2 on the season. The senior Texan made five appearances, including three starts, and allowed just two earned runs on 14 hits and seven walks in 20.0 innings. She had 13 strikeouts and held opponents to a .192 batting average. Adkins picked up a win in each game of the NC State series, including game one out of the bullpen.

FOOTBALL
Georgia Tech’s football team begins spring practice this week. The Yellow Jackets will practice Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays for the next few weeks, culminating with the annual Spring Game on April 23.

BASEBALL (21-4, 9-0 ACC, national ranking #12)
The 12th-ranked Georgia Tech baseball team will put its nation-leading 16-game win streak on the line this week by hosting Mercer on Tuesday at Russ Chandler Stadium, before continuing Atlantic Coast Conference play at Duke over the weekend. The Yellow Jackets (21-4, 9-0 ACC) currently sit at the top of the ACC standings. Tech will face Mercer at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and Duke at 6 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

SOFTBALL (28-5, 3-0 ACC)
After winning their ACC record 18th straight conference series over the weekend, Georgia Tech heads out on the road for four games this week. The Yellow Jackets begin the week with a game on Wednesday night at No. 3 Georgia. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. This is the first of two meetings between these two schools as they will meet again in two weeks at Mewborn Field. Tech then heads to Maryland for a three-game weekend series in College Park. The Jackets and Terps will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday, both beginning at 1 p.m.

MEN’S TENNIS (12-2, 3-1 ACC, ITA ranking #21)
Georgia Tech came out of a 12-day break by defeating ACC foes NC State and Wake Forest at home last weekend, losing only one match in the process. The Yellow Jackets, in fifth place in the ACC, have five of their remaining seven conference matches on the road, beginning this week when head coach Kenny Thorne’s team visits Clemson (Wednesday), Boston College (Friday) and Maryland (Sunday). All-American Guillermo Gomez is ranked 14th in the nation, sophomore Juan Spir is No. 57. Spir and Kevin King are ranked 11th as a doubles team. Follow Tech tennis on @GT_MTEN.

WOMEN’S TENNIS (10-5, 3-1 ACC, ITA ranking #20)
With only three weekends remaining before the ACC Tournament, the 20th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team (10-5, 3-1 ACC) will have the benefit of playing two of those three at home, beginning with a pair of home matches on Friday, April 1, and Sunday, April 3. The Jackets will look to extend their current four-match winning streak when they host the No. 24 Maryland Terrapins on Friday at 2 p.m. Tech will take a day off before hosting No. 36 Boston College at noon on Sunday, April 3. Tech leads the all-time series with Maryland 19-14 and has won the last 11 matches against the Terrapins, including five straight 7-0 sweeps. The Yellow Jackets lead Boston College 5-1 and have won five straight against the Eagles.

TRACK AND FIELD
After a rain shortened Yellow Jacket Invitational, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track teams will head a couple of hours south to Auburn, Ala. where they will take part in the Auburn Tiger Track Classic on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2. The Jackets posted three first-place showings and earned 14 top-3 honors at their final home meet of the 2011 outdoor season.
