GAMEDAY 101
The Yellow Jackets are looking to win their home opener for the seventh time in seven years under head coach Paul Johnson. The six previous home openers have seen the Ramblin’ Wreck roll along, winning by an average margin of 41 points. Last season was a 70-0 pasting of Elon.

Georgia Tech is coming off a 7-6 season (5-3 ACC) in 2013, reaching a bowl game for the 17th consecutive season, which is the second-longest streak nationally. Tech also owns the nation’s longest streak of finishing .500 or better in conference play for 19 straight seasons.

Under 27th-year head coach Mike Ayers, Wofford was 5-6 in 2013 (4-4 in the Southern Conference). Ayers and Johnson are no strangers, having met five previous times while Johnson was the head coach at Georgia Southern, with Ayers still looking for his first win over Johnson.

HONORARY CAPTAIN BRAD BOURNE
Three-year letterwinner Brad Bourne will be the Honorary Captain for Saturday’s game. Bourne lettered in 1970, 1971 and 1972 for the Yellow Jackets at defensive end.

During his time on the Flats, he was a member of three Georgia Tech bowl teams – 1970 Sun Bowl (GT win), 1971 Peach Bowl and 1972 Liberty Bowl (win). As a junior in 1971, he was named to the All-Southern Independent Team and was also team captain in 1972. He was a college teammate of current GTAA chiropractor Dr. Randy Rhino.

Bourne graduated in 1972 from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management. He is currently the President/CEO for Universal Steel Inc., where he began working for his father part-time in 1967. He started working full-time at USI after graduation and later become the company’s President in 1989.
