ATLANTA – Junior Jessica Sallinger earned All-Southeast first team honors for the second time in her career (2002), announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon. The all-region team is comprised of two pitchers, a player at each infield position, three outfielders, a designated player and a utility player, with a first and second team selected.

Sallinger broke Tech records in wins (29), shutouts (14), consecutive scoreless innings pitched (39.2) and ERA (0.75) this season and is seven strikeouts away from reaching the 1,000-strikeout plateau in her career. The Kennesaw, Ga., native ranks eighth in the nation in strikeouts per game (10.43), ninth in wins and 11th in ERA.

Florida State’s Casey Hunter was the other pitcher selected to the All-Southeast Region first team. Hunter led the ACC in wins (32) and ERA (0.52).

No. 3 seed Georgia Tech will open up the Athens Regional against No. 6 seed Massachusetts on Thursday at 10 a.m. Live stats will be provided for all Yellow Jacket games at www.ramblinwreck.com.
