Tech's Rabbitt Runs into Record Book at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON – Georgia Tech junior Kyle Rabbitt etched his name into the school record book Saturday with a stellar performance in the 5000 meters at the Terrier Invitational at the Boston University Pavilion.

Rabbitt clocked a time of 14:14.48 to finish fourth in the invitational race, but more importantly he eclipsed the former school record (14:21.34) set by Eric Smith in 1986. Additionally, Rabbitt met the provisional qualifying standard for the 2003 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Junior All-American Brendon Mahoney also had a solid performance, placing fourth in the invitational mile in 4:06.55.

The Jackets return to action Saturday at the Carolina Fast Times Meet in Chapel Hill, N.C.
