THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving competed at day three of the 2022 Women’s NCAA Championships with three Yellow Jackets, McKenzie Campbell, Anna Bradescu and Cami Hidalgo competing on the day.
Bradescu placed 18th, narrowly missing finals which required a 16th place finish. Going into her final dive, Bradescu would need to score 62.05 points on her final dive to qualify for finals. Her dive, a back 2 ½ somersault 1 ½ twist pike (5253B), has a degree of difficulty of 3.2 meaning Bradescu would need to score 19 points from the judges to qualify. She scored all sixes to total 18 points, missing finals.
The remaining Jackets both had solid results. Campbell turned in a time of 1:57.32 in the 400 IM. Campbell holds the program record in the event. Hidalgo wrapped up a storied career that includes five All-American honors, four All-ACC honors and one ACC championship. She also owns every diving record at Georgia Tech. Hidalgo had her best dive in the fourth round, an inward 3 ½ somersault tuck (407B), which scored 65.60 points.
