ATLANTA (Mar. 21) — Third-ranked Georgia defeated the 28th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team, 9-0, Tuesday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Georgia, which is now 11-0 against Tech, improved its record to 12-1, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 9-3 overall.
Georgia’s eighth ranked Aarthis Venkatesan beat Tech’s Sabrina Pardo in the No. 1 singles spot 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the win for the Bulldogs.
A bright spot for the Jackets was the play of Bobbi Guthrie in the No. 2 singles spot who battled seventh-ranked Esther Knox before falling 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, Sabrina Pardo and Bobbi Guthrie fell to Georgia’s ninth ranked pair of Marissa Catlin and Lori Grey, 8-4, in the No. 2 match.
The Jackets host Western Michigan on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
