CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman Vesna Stojanovska (Skopje, Macedonia) led off the 800-yard freestyle relay in record setting fashion with a split time of 1:49.90 in the 200 free at the Women’s Atlantic Coast Conference Championships inside the Fitness and Aquatic Center tonight. The 800 free relay team finished in seventh place with a school record time of 7:29.38. The Yellow Jackets posted a new school mark in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.30 to finish in sixth place. Tech and Clemson both tallied 50 points to tie for sixth, while North Carolina leads with 74 points.
The 800 free relay team consisted of Stojanovska (1:49.90), Heather Matz (1:53.59), Ashley Kracke (1:52.28) and Meghan DeVinney (1:53.61).
Anna Saum, Alison Walker, DeVinney and Natanya Harper were the foursome for the Yellow Jackets in the 200 medley relay.
UNC’s Virginia Hanson, Kelly Weeks, Amanda Smith and Jessi Perruquet tallied a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 7:13.33 to capture the 800 free relay.
Florida State’s Emily Breen, Lauren Brick, Rachel Dong and Emma Dutton posted a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:40.84 in the 200 medley relay to finish in first place.
The ACC Championships will continue Thursday, Feb. 19, beginning with preliminaries at 11 a.m. and concluding with finals at 7 p.m.
