Tech Volleyball Hangs on to Defeat Florida A&M
Tallahassee, Fla – Maja Pachale recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs to lead the Yellow Jacket volleyball team to a four-game victory over Florida A&M, 30-22, 30-22, 22-30, 30-23 on Saturday afternoon. Georgia Tech improves to 14-5 on the season while the Rattlers fall to 19-2.
Tech jumped out to a 2-0 games lead and played well, hitting .444 to Florida A&M’s .243. In the first two games, Priess recorded eight kills while Pachale had six. However, Tech’s offense in game three struggled as A&M tallied five service aces, and hit only .150 in the game while Florida A&M recorded a .375 hitting percentage. Game three proved to be a much better result for the Jackets as the team cut down on their hitting errors and Kyleen Bell posted five kills of the team’s 18 kills.
Alexandra Preiss and Bell each totaled 12 kills, while Bell had six total blocks and Preiss had four blocks. Lauren Sauer also chipped in seven kills and four block assists. Kele Eveland tallied 56 assists and eight kills and eight digs in the match.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Sunday when they will take on Florida State (11-9, 7-4 ACC) at 1 p.m. in Tully Gymnasium.
