ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the Yellow Jacket Invitational, this Saturday, April 2, at the Georgia C. Griffin Track. The meet will be free admission and parking will be on Fowler street and behind Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
“This is going to be an exceptional meet and competition,” said men’s track coach Grover Hinsdale. “The who’s who of the southeast, along with Michigan from the midwest and Georgetown from the east, could make this one of the USA’s best meets of the season.”
“We’re really looking forward to the meet,” said women’s track coach Alan Drosky. “It’s going to be a great competition, at a great facility and hopefully the weather cooperates. A combination of that should produce a ton of top performances.”
Several Jackets have already posted NCAA Region qualifying marks this outdoor season. Senior Montrell Person leads the men with a regional qualifying time of 13.98 in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Sophomore Ashlee Kidd clocked two NCAA region marks this outdoor season in the 200- and 400-meter dash events for the Jackets. Kidd ran a season-best time of 23.81 at the Alabama Relays and posted a time of 54.04 in the 400 at the Florida Relays, before the rains washed away that meet.
