Tech Takes Part In Day One Of Men's ACC Championships

ATLANTA – After day one of the 2011 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships, the Georgia Tech men’s team sits in sixth place after competition in the 200-Medley Relay and 800-Free Relay.

Tech took seventh in the first race of the night, the 200-Medley Relay. The Jackets kept pace with the rest of the teams seeing some of their fastest splits of the season. The foursome of Bo Hatchett, Matthew Vaughan, Sully Lynch and Garrett Robberson finished with a time of 1:28.46, almost three seconds faster than their season best.

In the second race of the night, the 800-Free Relay, the Jackets touched the wall in sixth place, finishing with the third-fastest time in school history, 6:32.11. Travis Wagner, Matt Tang, Eric Chiu and Zach Tillman teamed up for the race, knocking over 13 seconds off of their season best time and recording an NCAA `B’ cut time.

Tech will be back in the pool on Thursday for Day Two of the ACC Championships.
