Tech Shines on Day 2 of Yellow Jacket Invite

THE FLATS – In a preview of what’s to come this outdoor season, the Georgia Tech track and field program capped off its Yellow Jacket Invite with many top performances.

In the field events, Tech saw first-place finishes in the men’s discus throw and triple jump. Jamir Gibson championed the discus with a mark of 55.33 meters (181-6). John Watkins took home first in the triple jump with a mark of 15.52 meters (50-11).

In the high jump, Omar Arnaout placed third (2.00m/6-6.75) for the men and Camille Trotman came in fourth (1.63m/5-4.25) for the women.

The Jackets started off the track events with the women’s 400m hurdles and men’s 400m. Lydia Troupe was Tech’s top performer in the hurdles, finishing sixth (1:01.25). Jameson Miller ran a sixth-place time of 48.18 in the 400m.

Tech continued to see success in the women’s and men’s 800m. Kayla Rose placed second for the women with a time of 2:11.92. On the men’s side, Parker Buccheit came in third (1:51.88) and Joshua Williams followed in fourth place (1:52.23).

In the 200m dash, Sheleah Harris placed second for the women (24.23) and Bradley Favors finished fourth for the men (21.94).

Tech earned top three finishes in both the women’s and men’s 4x400m relays. The women’s team comprised of Troupe, Ilene Soleyn, Jill Catton and Amanda Ehrenhalt took home third with a time of 3:50.24. Miller, Favors, Jackson Sexton and Buccheit ran a second-place time of 3:16.62 in the men’s event.
