Tech Ranked No. 25 by Athlon

The Georgia Tech football team will be preseason ranked No. 25 in the nation by Athlon Sports preseason magazine.

The Jackets are coming off a 7-5 record in 2004 and a 51-14 victory over Syracuse in the Champs Sports Bowl, Tech’s eighth consecutive bowl appearance.

Sophomore wide receiver Calvin Johnson is named preseason first-team All-American and first-team All-ACC by the magazine.

Senior defensive end Eric Henderson is a preseason first-team All-ACC selection by Athlon. Tailback P.J. Daniels, offensive lineman Brad Honeycutt and linebacker Gerris Wilkinson are named preseason second-team All-ACC, while quarterback Reggie Ball, defensive back Reuben Houston and placekicker Travis Bell are tabbed to Athlon’s All-ACC third-team.

Georgia Tech’s quarterbacks and running backs are rated No. 2 in the ACC.

Magazines will hit newsstands on June 7. The Atlantic Coast regional edition cover will feature Calvin Johnson.
