ATLANTA – The 33rd-ranked Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will return to action on Saturday by hosting ACC foe Maryland and in-city rival Emory in a doubleheader beginning at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Tech and Maryland will be the first match of the day at 10:30, while the Emory match will begin at 3 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets (6-6, 0-2 ACC), will look to bounce back from a tough loss at top-ranked Georgia on March 12 when they host the Terrapins (5-4, 0-2 ACC). Both teams will be looking for their first conference win of the year when they meet on Saturday.
Against the Bulldogs, Tech’s lone win of the day came at No. 1 doubles, when the Jackets’ team of Scott Schnugg and West Nott defeated Georgia’s 16th-ranked team of Matias Boeker and Bo Hodge by a 9-8 score, winning the tie-breaker by a 10-8 score. Schnugg and Nott are currently ranked 57th nationally and have won 11 straight doubles matches in dual-match play and 13 of 14 overall.
The Yellow Jackets’ singles competitors continue to be led by junior Roger Anderson, who is the 27th-ranked singles player in the nation, competing primarily at the No. 1 spot. Anderson holds a 6-6 dual-match record, but has recorded wins over a pair of ranked opponents.
Following the matches on Saturday, the Jackets will once again take to the road for a three-match swing that will include South Carolina, NC State and North Carolina.
