Sept. 21, 2003

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Tech sophomore men’s tennis player Trevor McLeod won his fourth match of the weekend, but was unable to advance past the semifinals of the Division II draw at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga. The three-day tournament was held at the Dan Magill Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Georgia.

McLeod won his round of 16 match against Artie Peller of the College of Charleston after Peller withdrew with an injury. He then squared off with Duke’s Christopher Brown in the quarterfinals. McLeod was solid in the match, winning in straight sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-4. In the semifinals, McLeod faced Luis Carvalho of Mississippi State, and dropped a tight straight-set decision by matching scores of 6-4, 6-4.

The Yellow Jacket men’s tennis team will continue fall tournament action next weekend with a trip to Waco, Texas, to compete in the Baylor Intercollegiate. Full tournament results from the Southern Intercollegiate are available at www.georgiadogs.com.
