ATLANTA – Senior Roger Anderson was the lone singles winner as the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team dropped its third-straight match in a 5-2 loss to 20th-ranked South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta.
The Yellow Jackets (11-6) took an early lead in the match with the Gamecocks (14-4) by claiming the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2. Tech’s 19th-ranked team of Roger Anderson and Scott Schnugg had little trouble with South Carolina’s tandem of Angelo Niculesu and Tom Eklund, claiming an 8-3 win at No. 1. The Jackets claimed the point when the team of Joao Menano and Marko Rajevac defeated the Gamecocks’ team of Seth Rose and Carl Wermee at No. 2 doubles by a 9-7 count.

Anderson dropped the first set to Seth Rose by a 6-4 score before rallying for a 6-0 win in the second frame. The two then battled to a tiebreaker in the third set, with Anderson claiming the match by a 7-5 score.
The Gamecocks clinched the team win in the match when Ben Atkinson defeated the Jackets’ Trevor McLeod at No. 5 singles in three sets by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.
