ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team continued play at the Southern Intercollegiate Scramble on Saturday with a match-up against ACC-rival Duke at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga. The matches were moved to the indoor courts at Georgia Tech due to inclement weather and ongoing construction at the indoor courts in Athens, Ga.
The Yellow Jackets opened the day with doubles action, winning one of three matches from the Blue Devils. Tech’s lone win came at No. 1 doubles as the team of Scott Schnugg and Roger Anderson defeated Duke’s 39th-ranked team of Jonathan Stokke and Stephen Amritaj by an 8-4 score.
In singles action, Anderson was once again the Jackets’ lone winner, as he defeated the Devils’ Jason Zimmerman in a three-set match, winning the final set in a 10-game tiebreaker. Anderson’s win was his first of the year, as he won the first set by a 6-3 score, before dropping a 6-3 decision in the second set. He then rallied in the third to win 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
The final day of the Southern Intercollegiate Scramble will feature Tech squaring off with in-state rival Georgia in a match that is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Athens, weather permitting.
