ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s track and field athletes will get their last chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships when they compete this Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
“We have a small group of athletes that are close to qualifying for the NCAA Championships,” said head coach Grover Hinsdale. “We felt that if it was going to happen, Notre Dame was the place to go. They have an excellent facility and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to compete there.”
Three members of the Tech men’s team have provisionally qualified for the championship meet, which will be held on March 9-10, in Fayetteville, Ark. Jerome Miller was the first Jacket to provisionally qualify this season when he cleared the bar at 7 feet, 2 ½ inches in the high jump at the Clemson Opener.
Last week at the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championships, senior James Lemons and freshman Alphonso Jordan each provisionally qualified in the triple jump with marks of 51 feet, 3 ¾ inches and 50 feet, 8 ¼ inches respectively.
