Tech Men Set For ACC Swimming Championship

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Georgia Tech men’s swimming team heads to Christiansburg, Va. this weekend for 2012 ACC Championship, looking to improve on last year’s seventh-place finish.

The Championship commences Wednesday, February 22 at 6 p.m. at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Virginia. A live video stream of event finals will be available on theACC.com Thursday through Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The diving points accumulated by junior Brandon Makinson (second-place on the 1-meter and 12th on the 3-meter) and by junior Chris Khosravi (sixth-place on the platform), count towards the men’s scoring this weekend.

Two relays are on tap Wednesday evening — 200 medley relay followed by the 800 free relay. Thursday begins the first day of preliminary action, commencing at 11 a.m. with the 500 free, the 200 IM and the 50 free.

Friday’s swimming events include the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast and the 100 back, while diving continues.

Everything wraps up Saturday as the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 1,650 free.
