Tech Hosts North Georgia for Exhibition

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball will host its second collegiate opponent of the fall season in North Georgia on Sunday at noon at Mewborn Field.

Fans of all ages are invited to attend the game with admission being free to the public. Parking will be available in the McCamish lot.

The Skyhawks come into the contest on the heels of a successful 2021 season at the DII level, going 43-8 overall and 17-1 in Peach Belt Conference play. North Georgia opened last spring with a 17-game winning streak and rode a subsequent 16-game winning streak on the way to its seventh straight Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Skyhawks won their home-hosted regional and advanced to the DII championship finals. This fall, North Georgia has two games under its belt against Georgia Military College and Truett McConnell University.

The Yellow Jackets welcome the Nighthawks after splitting a doubleheader a week ago at South Carolina, Tech’s first collegiate opposition of fall ball.

Georgia Tech enters its fifth season under coach Aileen Morales, bringing back 15 returners from last season’s squad. Among the notable returners are Justin’s World of Softball Third Team All-American, NFCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-ACC first baseman Tricia Awald along with First Team All-ACC and All-ACC Freshman Team catcher Emma Kauf. The decorated duo is joined by ace right-hander Blake Neleman as well as regular starting middle infielders Bailee Zeitler and Jin Sileo.

The stable of returners is bolstered by the Yellow Jackets’ No. 17 ranked recruiting class, tabbed second amongst the ACC and composed of eight highly-touted new Jackets.

Georgia Tech is currently scheduled to wrap up its fall slate hosting Emory on Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m.
