ATLANTA – After a week of practice, including two-a-day sessions the first weekend, Georgia Tech’s basketball team will make their first public appearance Friday night with its annual Georgia Tech Hoopsfest, from 6:30-8:30 at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
Admission is free to the event, which includes a scrimmage by the Tech team, poster giveaways and an autograph session, a dunking performance by Sky Hawk, games, food and prizes.
Head coach Paul Hewitt will split up his squad and scrimmage for 20 minutes. The Jackets are led by Iman Shumpert, a junior guard from Oak Park, Ill., who is the team’s top returning scorer at 10.0 points per game. Everyone is available for the scrimmage except for freshman centers Daniel Miller (mononucleosis) and Nate Hicks (concussion).
