THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the first ACC matchup of the season against Florida State on Friday, Oct. 28 at 12 p.m.
Last time out, Tech suffered their first loss in a short course dual meet against No. 7/No. 15 Georgia. Despite both teams losing, the Jackets recording several first place and top three times.
Ruben Lechuga is still unbeaten in both the men’s 1 Meter and 3 Meter diving events. For the third week in a row, he swept the events and was named ACC Men’s Diver of the Week for the second time this season.
Deniz Ertan won the 800m free (8:29.73), the 400m free (4:10.38) and placed second in the 200m IM (2:13.99). Batur Ünlü placed first in the 200m free (1:47.53) in addition to placed second in the 100m free (50.34) and 400m free (3:50.71).
Zora Ripkova and Matt Steele were also top performers for Tech. Ripkova was victorious in the women’s 100m fly (1:01.29) and earned a second-place finish in the 200m free (2:02.93). Steele earned top three finishes in three different events. He won the 200m breast (2:14.54), earned a second-place finish in the 100m breast (1:01.46) and placed third in the 200m IM (2:05.58).
The Jackets and Seminoles previously went head-to-head early in the 2021-22 season. Tech lost to Florida State in an extremely close finish with a final score of 150-148 on the men’s side and a score of 159-141 on the women’s side.
